Principal

As one of the founders of Integral, Stephen is the Managing Principal for the Washington DC office. With over 30 years of national and international experience in the design and installation of building services, Stephen provides leadership for Integral in the delivery of Energy Services, including Commissioning and Energy Performance evaluations and upgrades. Stephen’s experience in historic renovation, healthcare, corporate, commercial and hospitality work is invaluable to his role with the firm.

 

   

Thomas Simpson, P.E., LEED® AP
Principal

Tom is a registered mechanical engineer and is the Managing Principal of the Richmond office of Integral. He has over 26 years of industry experience and is an accomplished designer and project leader for a broad range of project types including corporate offices, mission critical, secondary and higher education, cultural/civic, multi-family residential and industrial facilities. Tom also has extensive experience in the field of energy conservation and applied his expertise for the design of the building automation systems for the Louisiana Superdome and U.S. Department of Transportation Headquarters.

 

   

Carl Claus, P.E., LEED® AP
Principal

Carl has over 25 years of planning and design experience for a wide variety of projects including healthcare, laboratories, colleges and universities, commercial office, hospitality and recreational facilities. These projects involved new construction and renovation of existing facilities encompassing energy retrofits and restorations of historic buildings, as well as evaluations, expansions and upgrades to central plants for campus environments and free-standing buildings. Carl has been involved in energy conservation and the use of alternative energy sources, such as thermal storage systems and solar energy, throughout his engineering career.

 

   

Michael Galway, PE, CPD, LEED® AP
Principal

Mike has been a mechanical engineer for over 26 years and has managed a variety of projects for a wide range of clients including state and federal government, healthcare, laboratories, retail, historic restoration, and higher education. Mike has also worked on a number of high profile federal facilities including the Department of Defense, Department of Justice, the Federal Drug Administration and the General Services Administration. Currently, Mike is part of the GSA’s HVAC Design Excellence Peer Review program where he has reviewed such facilities as courthouses, border stations and federal office buildings nationally.

 

   

Nick Caronna, PE, LEED® AP
Principal

Nick has over 26 years of experience in the Science and Technology sector including work in laboratory, biocontainment, and vivarium facilities. As the Managing Principal of the Raleigh office and a registered mechanical engineer , he has extensive experience in energy usage evaluations, complex retrofits, and cost-effective solutions. He has presented national and regionally at Tradeline, Labs21, ISPE, and CED, as well as authored a number of articles. His background with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, and industrial clients provides customized, comprehensive solutions from planning through start-up and commissioning.

 

   

John P. McDonald, P.E., LEED® AP
Principal

As a Principal in Integral’s San Francisco office, John is recognized as one of the nation’s leading mechanical engineers for laboratories and animal research facilities. He has worked for a variety of clients including universities, R&D/bio-pharmaceutical and government institutions. He has a vast knowledge of commercial air conditioning systems as well as power, lighting, plumbing and specialty water systems. John’s project management experience includes master planning, conceptual designs through construction documents, construction administration and commissioning.
