Energy Engineer

The Energy Engineer will perform all aspects of energy analysis and modeling including LEED® certification requirements as part of a sustainable design team. Ultimately, the Energy Engineer will contribute to the sustainable and socially responsible culture of the firm while benefiting client projects.

Additional Responsibilities include

  • Perform energy audits, detailed energy modeling, evaluation of complicated building systems and life-cycle cost analysis;
  • Identify and evaluate energy conservation measures using energy modeling and spreadsheet analysis;
  • Meet with architects, clients and other project team members to discuss efficient solutions to mechanical and lighting systems;
  • Serve as a resource to other engineers regarding various topics of expertise such as controls, system configurations and operation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer;
  • Certified as a LEED® Accredited Professional;
  • Minimum of five years of energy analysis/modeling experience;
  • Minimum of seven years of overall experience related to commercial HVAC systems and controls design, energy auditing and diagnostics in a professional services consulting field;
  • Ability to develop energy models using eQuest, Ecotec, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace or DOE-2;
  • Experience with renewable energy technologies and sustainable design as applied to commercial construction;
  • Successful experience with USGBC’s LEED® certification systems (NC, EB, CI, etc.);
  • Some national and international travel may be required.
